Kendrick Lamar, Leikeli47 and More – New Hip-Hop Projects

It’s arguably one of the most exciting weeks for new music releases in May. This week, a Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper is releasing a new double album after a five-year hiatus, a remix of… Memphis delivers his third LP, and an elusive rhyme artist returns with her three-time studio project.

On Friday (May 13), Kendrick Lamar released his two-disc album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. This is the first major release of Compton, Calif. Among the guests to join the massive collection include Ghostface Killah, Baby Keem, Blxst, Kodak Black and many more.

Double LP, his last project under Top Dawg Entertainment label, preceded by new song “The Heart Part 5”. The visuals feature King Kendrick playing the poignant roles of OJ Simpson, Kanye West, Jussie Smollett and Will Smith. Near the end of the clip, K-Dot transforms into Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle as he pays tribute to the late icons with his words.

Meanwhile, Blac Youngsta is back with his latest album, 4 lives. The Heavy Camp leader delivers 23 tracks in his third studio effort. 21 Savage expressed support for the pride track “Nobody”, while 42 Dugg ignored the warning song “Threat”. In “Tru Colors,” Blac recounts his difficult life growing up on the streets of Memphis.

Finally, Leikeli47 is back with her third LP, Shape. Her new project is the last in a trilogy of albums on feminism that started in 2017 Wash & Set and equalize Acrylic in 2018. The New York singer continues to be mysterious by wearing a mask all the time because she wants people to focus on her music. For her flirty single, “LL Cool J,” Leikeli47 delivers captivating melodies of the “Ladies Love Cool Jewelry” mantra. The song’s video features a series of gorgeous models wearing sparkly outfits and showing off their dance moves in front of the camera. Leikeli47 is not only mysterious but she is also very creative.
