NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant couldn’t help but laugh as he bowled over the Orlando Magic in Monday night’s 109-102 win.
Amidst 45 points, Durant laughed during a game in the first quarter when magic guard Kevon Harris got a little too close defensively for consolation. Durant simply ducked under Harris and hit from the backboard on a short runner. It was a strong game on a night full of them as the 34-year-old superstar also had seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks in 39 minutes – in addition to a 19-for-24 shoot from the line up.
“[Harris] was just physical use of his hands,” Durant said. “It was legal, but it was just a lot. I was wondering if the referee would call something; he did not do it. He let us play on and I just found it funny how physical he was; but we all just have fun playing the game.”
Durant had loads of fun throughout the evening, including in his post-game interview with YES Network when he was asked when he expected an impressive night.
“When I wake up,” Durant said.

In his post-game press conference, Durant disagreed — with a smile on his face.
“I only said that because [Milwaukee Bucks guard Jevon Carter] said so earlier this year when he had his career high [Oklahoma City]. Someone asked him the same question, so I paid homage to him. But you really don’t know, I really don’t know. I’ve had games where I shot incredibly warm up and had the worst night of shooting that night.”
Durant’s teammate Kyrie Irving admitted he sometimes laughs in awe at some of the things Durant can do on the court.
“All the time,” Irving said. “I think it’s a natural reaction when you see something special happening in front of you. You do your best to still be engaged, but it’s hard not to just stare and observe someone who is so special and talented. We know what he can do when he shows his talent like tonight it’s definitely an honor to be a part of it. I’m grateful to be his teammate.
