Kid killed after car goes in Lake Cushman near Party Rock

LAKE CUSHMAN, Wash. — A young child was killed on the afternoon of June 27 after a car drove over the embankment and plunged into the waters of Lake Cushman.

Two adults exited the car safely.

When the car crashed for the first time, the child could not get out. One of the adults involved and witnesses rescued the child from the water.

The child was flown to Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma but did not survive.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department recovered the vehicle June 28 in an area commonly referred to as “Party Rock.” MCSO requested assistance in conducting an underwater evidence search.
