“Killed the team” – Tottenham legend Robbie Keane claims Mikel Arteta will be ‘absolutely slaughtering’ 26-year-old Arsenal star after North London derby performance

One-time League Cup winner Robbie Keane believes Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be furious with Rob Holding following his performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

Holding started last night’s North London derby (May 12) in the heart of the Gunners’ defence alongside Gabriel Magalhaes. However, the 26-year-old never really showed his composure and fouled four times in a row, including the last time he was sent off in the 33rd minute.

Although Tottenham were leading 1-0 at the time, Arteta’s side created some good chances and could have been back in the game. However, they never really recovered after defeating 10 people and losing 0-3 at Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking after the game, Arteta defended his players while criticizing the referee’s decisions. However, Keane believes that Holding has cost Arsenal by being sacked. He told Sky Sports (as quoted by Metro):

”I understand what he was doing but he talked about destroying the game, but Holding killed the whole team. What he said on TV, I understand, but I was with the managers when everyone left. I imagine in that dressing room he would completely kill Holding. ”

Keane, who was in the last Spurs side to win a major, added that the Gunners started the game well but were let down by their individual errors:

” They started very well, the first 15 minutes, they controlled the game, looked very comfortable. Then they got a silly penalty, silly sent off. ”

The former Republic of Ireland striker concluded:

” I understand he has to protect him, he’s the manager, when he’s in front of the camera, for everyone. There are two games left in the season and it is important for them to get six points. But internally, he will be looking at their players. ”

Tottenham beat Arsenal to open the race for the top 4

Entering the match against Tottenham, the 4th ranked team Arsenal has a 4 point advantage over the 5th ranked team Spurs. A victory in the derby will give the Gunners a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

However, Arteta’s side fell midway through the first half despite a good start to the game. Cedric Soares fouled Son Heung-min in the box and Harry Kane converted the penalty to give the hosts the lead.

It doesn’t matter that Mr. Holding was fired after half an hour. Just as the visitors looked to react with a 10-man drop, they were quickly two ahead when Kane scored from a beautiful corner in the 37th minute.

Arsenal were barely able to settle in the second half before Son scored Tottenham’s third less than 90 seconds after the break to close the deal.

The victory made Antonio Conte’s students one point behind their arch-rival with two matches left in the league.
