Im maybe the biggest shock of the year for “Sex and the City” Fans, that has been confirmed Kim Cattrall will reprise her legendary role as Samantha Jones in the sequel series “And just like that…”
She had previously insisted for years that she had no interest in returning to the long-running franchise and made no secret of the ongoing animosity between her and the series star Sarah Jessica Parker. And yet the makers never closed the door.

By the time And Just Like That… began, it was clear that Samantha was overseas, and we “saw” her through text messages she shared with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. In other words, the possibility of her return was built into the narrative.
Still, neither Cattrall, the series’ creators, nor HBO held out much hope that it would happen. But not much hope isn’t hope, and when HBO’s boss called her and asked, “What can we do?” Cattrall was intrigued.
Cattrall chatted about the surprise appearance, which is no longer a surprise, and told the ladies of The View that she tried to get “creative” in formulating an answer to that question.
“And one of those things was getting Pat Field back because I was just like, if I come back, I have to come back with this Samantha style,” she said. “I have to push it. And that’s what we did.”
Patricia Field was the stylist for the women in both the original series and both films. But she hasn’t come back for this sequel series in particular…until now. She previously collaborated with Cattrall on her other series, Glamorous.

As reported by diversity Last month, Cattrall filmed her cameo – allegedly a phone conversation with Parker – on March 22 in New York. She was styled by Field and was all alone.
Despite her return to this world, Cattrall will not be sharing the screen with any of her former co-stars, which includes Kristin Davis And Cynthia Nixon. She also reportedly hasn’t seen or spoken to showrunner Michael Patrick King. But it’s a step.
Cattrall’s first departure from SATC had to do with a planned third film for the franchise. According to an interview with , she felt the script didn’t live up to expectations diversity in 2022. “I would have preferred if we all had an event that warranted a third movie,” she said. “That didn’t happen.”
Both Parker and King had said during the development of And Just Like That… that they couldn’t see her ever returning to the role without reaching out to Cattrall. Luckily for fans, Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, decided to take a chance and reach out. This initiative has paid off.
However, fans will have to wait a bit to see Cattrall as her appearance is scheduled for the season 2 finale in August. The new season started on Thursday 22nd June on Max.
