The Heart Kingdom Cloud-based collections on Nintendo Switch received an update last week. The update now warns players when there is “server congestion”, which can affect the streaming experience.
A new server congestion warning shows up on the game selection screen for any titles that have issues, and while the warning can be ignored by players, the experience is likely to be less than acceptable (noticeable). via Kotaku).
This warning inadvertently reveals the dangers of cloud gaming, which is growing in popularity thanks to services like Xbox Game Pass.

Server congestion can now be viewed on the portal page.
While playing KH3, the “Priority Performance” and “Graphic Quality Priority” options can be selected at the start of the game.

The 1.0.3 update also brings two new performance options for Kingdom Hearts 3 on Switch: “Prioritize Performance” and “Priority Graphics Quality”, which can be selected before the player starts the game.
The difference between the two is that performance focuses on providing players with stable frame rates, while graphics quality focuses on improving the overall visuals of the game.
When the cloud-based collection was announced at the beginning of the year, a report suggested that the games probably wouldn’t run well on the Nintendo Switch. It was discovered that games were downgraded to 720p, with the first two games in the series also being limited to 30fps.
Square Enix recently sold off many of its Western studios and franchises to Embracer Group, including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Thief. The Japanese publisher then announced last week that it plans to establish new studios to strengthen its intellectual property ecosystem.
In other news, Atlus is asking players about giving Persona for Xbox, Switch and PC in a new survey.
Main line entries in Persona the series was previously exclusive to the PlayStation, so expanding the series to multiple platforms would be a significant change in development. The survey also asked players what makes an Atlus title unique.
