Two American immigrants, both survivors of life under Nazi rule and still causing a stir in their nineties, set the terms of the debate at the World Economic Forum. Henry Kissinger, who celebrates his 99th birthday this week, appeared virtually to urge against attempts to defeat or marginalize Russia and urged Ukraine to accept 2014 territorial losses in order to end the war break up. A few hours later, 91-year-old George Soros personally warned at the forum that victory in the war against Vladimir Putin’s Russia was necessary to “save civilization” and urged the West to provide Ukraine with whatever it needs to need victory.
