Kodak Black’s Attorneys Claim Oxycodone Pills Were Prescribed

Lawyers for Kodak Black allege that the 31 oxycodone pills found in his arrest last week were prescribed by a doctor.

Bradford Cohen, Yak’s attorney, told TMZ the rapper has been “battling chronic pain” since he was shot over the weekend of Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.

Cohen called the painkillers “necessary.”

Cohen also addressed Kodak’s alleged assault by guards at the Kentucky Federal Penitentiary before his release in 2021. Kodak needs the medication for “persistent pain from the attack.”

Just days ago, his lawyer claimed he wanted the pills tested by a third party.

“It’s impossible… to investigate a defense on behalf of [Kodak] without being able to inspect, weigh and independently test the substances,” Cohen said in a statement. “[It’s] essential to exercise his right to a fair trial, his right to confrontation, his right to prepare a defense on his own behalf, his right to effective assistance by legal counsel and due process of law in accordance with the protection afforded him by the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and the Florida Constitution.”
