Netflix has revealed a brand new trailer for their highly anticipated Korean film adaptation Money Heist.

Today (May 20), the streaming giant introduced a new visual for Money Heist: Korea – Common Economic Area, establish the premise of the new series. The clip begins with bloody images of bodies scattered across the battlefield, with a messenger announcing the joint economic union of North and South Korea after declaring the end of the war.

Despite the good news, one voiceover points out that the only people who have so far reaped the benefits of the economic union are the wealthy. “The time has come for us, with nothing left, to claim our rights,” the voice declared, as the scene of the band of robbers preparing for a major heist flashed past. “We will eliminate the single biggest money theft.”

The remake will also feature star Park Hae-soo, Squid fishing gameCho Sang-woo or Player 218, as Berlin, the Professor’s right-hand man and crime enforcer. Ryu Yong-jae (My Holo Love, Psychopath Diary) is the screenwriter for the film along with Kim Hwan-chae and Choi Sung-jun.

Speaking about the adaptation of the Hispanic series in a press release, Ryu described the offer as the work of “fate”. “I was intrigued by the premise of the remake because it not only revolved around the conflict between the robbers and the police, but it also added many new layers such as tension, suspicion and harmony between North and South. and South Korea,” he added.

Ryu also mentions the additional element of contemporary political climate in Korea that has added to the ingenuity of the adaptation: “A situation where thieves from North and Korea join forces, and police from South and North join hands to block their path adding a Korean lens to the original IP. ”

Scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on June 24, Money Heist: Korea – Common Economic Area will see the Professor and his crew attempt a large-scale heist. All episodes are directed by Kim Hong-sun, who has directed popular dramas such as Customer, Voice and Black.
