‘Kung Fu’: Olivia Liang, Shannon Dang Tease Season 2 Finale

Nicky Shen’s fight to protect her city – and the world – just got personal kung fu.

The warrior of destiny suffered a terse phone call when her brother was shot by crime boss Russell Tan. While Ryan is expected to make a full recovery, the incident will have far-reaching implications for the entire Shen family, including Nicky, who now realizes she has more to lose in the fight against evil.

“For the first time, her family was really in danger because of things that she was responsible for, so this will definitely change the way she is,” Olivia Liang, who plays Nicky, told TVLine during The CW’s Upfronts presentation in NYC.

Given that Mia left Ryan to go after Russell for her own personal reasons, Nicky thinks more about how she’s dealing with her cousin, who has now allied herself with Zhilan.

“Does she even want to help Mia anymore? Is it worth putting your whole family at risk? I think the choices Nicky makes will carry a lot more weight than just saying, ‘I just have to save the world,'” Liang explained. “Now it’s a little more personal.”

Shannon Dang, who plays Althea, added that “the whole family will just lean in. I think everyone realizes that there is a bigger picture. It’s not just about that us. Nicky wants to help her community; Help save the world.”

As the series gears up for the Season 2 finale (airing Wednesday, June 15 at 9:8am PST), both actresses noted that fans can expect an intense hour that will have many wondering what the heck is happening right now is.

“The drama is a much‘ Dang teased.

Liang added, “When we read the finale, jaws dropped… How really, really unexpected. I am willing to bet so much money that no one can guess what will happen.” (With reporting by Andy Swift)
