Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has become the world’s highest-paid footballer according to Forbes magazine, the first time in eight years that a player other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo has topped the list.
Mbappe, 23, is expected to earn an estimated $128m before agent fees for the 2022/23 season, a record for Forbes’ annual rankings, with PSG team-mate Messi second with $120m and Manchester United’s Ronaldo ($100m). US dollars) took third place.

PSG’s Neymar ($87m) and Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah ($53m) rounded out the top five.
Erling Haaland, who got off to a flying start to his Manchester City career after joining from Borussia Dortmund this summer, makes his debut in the top 10 with a profit of $39m.
The rise of Mbappe and Haaland, the only players under 30 on the list, signals a shift in the global game, according to the Forbes report, as Messi and Ronaldo draw closer to the end of their glorious careers.
Overall, the top 10 highest-paid players are expected to make a record $652 million this season, up 11% from last year’s $585 million.
