Kylian Mbappe’s namesake horse can win the big race on day two of Glorious Goodwood

Try the Kyl in today’s Molecomb Stakes.
KYLIAN (3.00) couldn’t have been more impressive as he won the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown by six lengths.
The ground wasn’t any faster than good there, so it should do fine in these probably slower conditions.
Ryan Moore stays on board and is able to give in-form coach Karl Burke another nice prize.
Big Evs is a big threat after his child’s play in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He showed a lot of pace there on the fast surface and will come close on the softer surface.
Hopefully all eight places take part so bookies pay three places with Shagraan looking poised to improve after a good second place at Newbury last time out.
Here, Templegate goes through all the runners in the race and gives them a five-star rating.
Runner-by-runner’s guide to Molecomb Stakes
BAHEER 3
Most Read in Horse Racing
On his debut at Newbury in May he showed promise in second place before returning to the Berkshire track for an impressive victory.
Both runs went over six furlongs, but trainer Richard Hannon has won the last two runs of those, making him a threat.
BARNWELL YOUNG 3
Oh boy. He loved this tricky course, winning by nearly five lengths on six furlongs on the debut.
He was then demoted to that minimum for Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, where he never looked at home.
A longer trip would be ideal but his course form is respected and he could set the tone.
BIG EVS 4
Big chance. He attracted attention with a close second place finish in his debut after a poor draw at Redcar in May.
He eclipsed that form with a stunning three-length win in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He did everything and never seemed in any danger. Can get close in these slower conditions.
HACKMAN 3
HACK gallop. Won in the mud at the Chester meeting in May and ran well twice at Sandown after a poor performance at Royal Ascot.
Chased Kylian last time in listed company without threatening but has pace and could run into the frame again as he’s the only one proven on soft.

KYLIAN 5
LIAN can roar. He improved with every run and had six lengths on hand the last time he won a Sandown-listed competition.
He’s got a lot of pace and coach Karl Burke has had a lot of fun with his youthful sprinters this season. There’s a lot more to come.
MARKAKOL 1
MAR no star. Well, he gets a star for showing up, but that’s about it.
His best performance so far over this distance came when he won a minor competition at Newcastle two races ago.
He didn’t seem to get home past six furlongs at Newbury and needs to improve his game to have a role in this venture.
PUROSANGUE 2
PUR and simple. He has looked really green in both races so far, winning easily on the debut at Haydock before finding modest success in Group 2 at the July circuit at Newmarket.
Will like to go back from this distance but needs a big step up to compete here.
SHAGRAAN 3
RAAN on. Has run all six furlongs to date and won easily at Windsor before performing well at Newbury in listed company.
He showed a lot of pace but just ran out of gas near the finish line so he might like this shorter ride and faster track. Another with a yell both ways.
