Labor Day 2022: Crowds soak up last bit of summer in Ocean City, New Jersey

OCEAN CITY, NJ (WPVI) — The long summer nights on the Jersey Shore are drawing to a close.

From the beach to the boards, people made sure to enjoy every last minute of the season before Labor Day.

“We’re taking the last weekend of summer right now. This is my first time in Ocean City since 2020,” said Robin Moore of Mayslanding.

They say goodbye to summer with a girls’ night out for educators Robin Moore and Monica Lucas.

For the kids, they’re not ready for the end of the season.

“I don’t want to go to school,” Kaylin Zimmerman said.

This may not be the last weekend for shops to stay open, but it is the last busy one until next year.

“With COVID, the last few summers have been iffy. I feel like this is the first summer anyone has been able to come and stay for a while,” explained Gabby Boggs, who works at Pisa Pizza.
