LG has launched its Tone-Free wireless earphone range for 2022, and the new flagship model comes with a built-in equalizer and support for Dolby’s head-tracking technology. Much like Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro, which also has Dolby’s 360-degree audio capability, the T90 can recalibrate sounds as you move your head to make it seem like they’re really coming from all around you. LG says the T90s are also the first earbuds to feature an audio virtualizer, which Dolby engineered for the form factor to expand its “spatial dimensionality” for a more immersive experience.
The company’s other new Tone Free model is its first fitness-focused earbuds called the Tone Free Fit or TF8, which are designed with a secure fit to keep them in place so they don’t fall out in the middle of workouts. This model can last up to 10 hours without hybrid active noise cancellation turned on, while the T90 lasts up to nine hours as long as its adaptive ANC is not used.
The charging cases of both models have a feature that kills 99.9 percent of bacteria on the earbuds with UV-C light. Plus, the T90’s charging case doubles as a Bluetooth transmitter, allowing you to add wireless connectivity to source devices that don’t. If you have sensitive skin or are allergic to most ear tips, be aware that the T90s also contain medical grade, hypoallergenic ear gel.
LG hasn’t revealed how much the new earbuds will cost, but they will be available in the US from September.
