Liam Cavanagh from Emmerdale has a HUGE secret from everyone in the village

LIAM Cavanagh endured a difficult few years in the Dales, culminating in the collapse of his relationship with Leyla Harding.
Little do Emmerdale residents know their local GP is keeping a huge secret – and one villager is about to find out.
Last year ended on a bitter note for Liam and Leyla as they ended their marriage after the wedding planner’s addiction battle.
Over the holidays, Liam found some solace in his friendships in the Dales before striking up a conversation with his former fiancé, Bernice Blackstock.
However, in recent months, Liam has been one of the many male villagers to support Paddy Kirk with his mental health struggles – and during a hilarious exchange with Bear Wolf he expressed his love of crime fiction.
So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Liam has dabbled in writing his own mysteries, as actor Jonny McPherson has hinted at in an interview with The Sun and other outlets.
“Liam submits short detective stories without anyone knowing about it,” Jonny explained.
“Obviously he’s divorced from Leyla and didn’t have much else to do, so he started writing short stories and submitted them to Murder Most Murky, a biannual crime publication.”
The GP, using the alias Anna Le Monde, is hoping to win the New Crime Writer of the Year award – a nod to his late daughter Leanna being “his world,” as Jonny explains.
Unfortunately, Wendy Posner leaks his secret when she stumbles across a snippet of one of his stories in practice — and she has a surprising proposal for Liam.
“He prints out one of those stories and Wendy finds it in the office but then comes over and confronts him with it,” Jonny teased.
“She says, ‘What the hell is that?’ and he’s so embarrassed, but Wendy says, ‘Liam, these are really good, but they could use something else.'”
Much like Liam, Wendy has a hidden passion for storytelling and brings the finishing touches to Liam’s story by adding a touch of romance.
“Once Wendy starts talking about racist stuff, it gets him going a little bit,” Jonny joked.
Wendy Posner actress Susan Cookson added, “She’s just a little suspicious of him for a while, he’s kind of floating around with his laptop and she knows he’s up to something.”

“Then she finds this expression and it’s obviously a passion of hers, as I found out recently. But she’s into the cheekier side of crime short stories, the more romantic side. She introduces that side of his stories and, for the two of them, it’s a meeting of minds and a common interest, and it’s something that’s really good for them.”
This wouldn’t be the first secret Liam and Wendy have shared, as he knows all about the nurse’s troubled past with her ex-husband Russ.
“They definitely have more common interests. Because Leyla, she loves weddings and nails…the cocaine,” Jonny continued, while Susan continued, “And Wendy is very nice. And the empathy… They have that.” They both lost a child, so there’s that.”
But affairs are at stake in the village of the same name, and the intimacy between the two will lead to a shocking surgical argument that will leave Wendy dealing with her own infidelity the next day.
Will she come clean with her longtime partner Bob Hope?

Or will it be another secret to share with Liam?
Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7.30pm on ITV.
