LIAM SMITH suffered a horror cut after being beaten by Chris Eubank Jr. in ten rounds.
The former world light middleweight champion became the first man to drop and stop Eubank in January.
But the 33-year-old Eubank retaliated in Manchester with two defeats.
And in the tenth round, he got his revenge sweetly when the referee saved 35-year-old Smith from his own bravery.
Smith, who is known to have sustained serious injuries, sustained a horrific laceration above his right eye but congratulated Eubank on his return.
He said: “Chris was the better man tonight. I scream when I win, I accept defeat when I lose.”
Smith had to give up the scheduled date in June because of a back injury.
And he insisted he barely struggled on the big night due to the weight gain during his time on the sidelines.
Smith said, “I think everyone knows and Chris knows how I’ve fared with the weight, so at the weigh-in.”
“After the injury, I lost three kilos in a short time and shifted a lot of weight.

“But that’s all I can say. I was floored from the start, floored as it has to be, I couldn’t move my feet and Chris was sharp early on so fair to him.”
Eubank struggled to salvage his career at the site of his first KO loss, but now he’s roared back.
He said: “I had to beat Liam tonight. I hit so many punches the writing on my shorts fell off, it’s unbelievable.”
“But listen, Liam is a warrior, I respect him, I respect his entire team, his family and his brothers.”
“They always come out, they always put everything on the line. He didn’t give up, he fought until the last second. Kudos to Liam and his team.”
