Live-action Eragon TV series reportedly in development for Disney Plus

According to a report from Variety, the acclaimed fantasy-adventure novel Eragon is getting a live-action TV show remake for Disney Plus.

A live-action Eragon TV series revealed by an exclusive Variety source is reportedly in early development for Disney+.

That report also claimed that executive producer Bert Salke will produce under his Co-Lab 21 banner with 20th Television.

Unlike the 2006 film, this new TV series will reportedly cover the entire inheritance cycle. Essentially, the series includes the history of all four books: Eragon (2002), Eldest (2005), Brisingr (2008) and Inheritance (2011).

Christopher Paolini, the writer of the original series, is reportedly a co-writer of the TV series. It’s hard to say when the Eragon TV series will be released as it’s still in its infancy, but it’s certain to wait at least a few years.

The show is still in the very early stages of development, and according to Variety, they initially believed Paolini would be a co-showrunner. But the whole project itself “is at such an early stage that no such decision has been officially made.”

Eragon’s new live-action series will reportedly cover the entire inheritance cycle.

Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance series became a hit in the early 2000s. The books were always on display at Barnes and Nobles – each entry was notable for its fairly large pages.

The story began with Eragon’s discovery of a mysterious egg, which then led to an imaginative adventure.

Hollywood failed to capture the magic of the series in 2006. The film received a lot of hype, and rumors swirled that after a successful debut, they would eventually cover the entire series. But the live-action flick just couldn’t grab audiences as much as the books.

And now, over fifteen years later, Disney+ seems poised to recapture the adventure stories in the form of live-action media. Live-action Eragon TV series reportedly in development for Disney Plus
