Preview Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks: Dodgers back on track tonight
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said pre-season, “We’re going to win the World Series this year. Let’s put it on record.” The Dodgers certainly have the talent to get it done, so Roberts has every right to be confident in his team.
Tonight, the Dodgers will begin their four-match series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. A few weeks ago, the Dodgers lost two of their three games to Arizona, but tonight the D-back will visit Los Angeles. The Dodgers have a 11-5 record at home this year and a 20-13 record as the favorites. Hope everyone enjoys this game!
Below you’ll find a brief preview of each team, followed by predictions for the game.
Los Angeles Dodgers Preview:
“WALK-OFF DUB” – @Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided getting caught up in a four-game stretch against the Phillies last night with a brace from Gavin Lux. The Phillies have hit hard in that series, and the Dodgers pitching staff will be looking to eliminate that tonight.
Tony Gonsolin is going to start this game for LA, and he’s been very productive. After five starts, Gonsolin has a 3-0 record with an ERA of 1.33. This is one of the best numbers in the MLB, and the pitchers that will come after Gonsolin are also very good. The Bullpen Dodgers ranked fifth in the MLB in the ERA and first in the WHIP (walks/hits per pitch). Hard to believe, the Dodgers have yet to find their rhythm. With stars like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Trea Turner and Max Muncy, you would expect them to have some good personal numbers. However, none of the greats on this Dodgers team have average scores above 0.295. While none of the Dodger players have had a spectacular season to date, they are still ranked first in the MLB in terms of runs per game at a rate of 5.27. That’s scary for the rest of the league, because if this foul can be compared with the pitch staff, this team will be hard to beat.
Arizona Diamondbacks Preview:
“Final.” – @ Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks have exceeded expectations so far this season. With an 18-17 record, Arizona looks set to improve on their 52-110 record last season. Veteran left-winger Madison Bumgarner will start for full-back D tonight, and he’s been pretty solid. Through seven starts, Bumgarner has a 1-1 record with a 1.78 ERA.
The Diamondbacks roster has struggled badly so far, placing 29th out of 30 MLB teams for offense. Offenders could only score 3.54 runs per game, putting them 26th in the league. The Diamondbacks are a team that has some young, talented members. They still haven’t fully realized the offense and that will be hard to overcome over the course of a 162-game season. The Arizona bullpen ranks last year in the ERA and assaults, so the key to victory is getting a match over 6 innings from Madison Bumgarner.
Pick / Predict: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-120)
Although the Arizona Diamondbacks have exceeded expectations so far, they were still surpassed by the talent of the Dodgers in this game. There’s a reason Madison Bumgarner threw the ball so well and got only one win: Unsuccessful foul. We trust MLB’s #1 team in terms of runs per game to win this game with 2+ runs. Let’s go Dodgers!
