Lucy Boynton is an iconic blonde. Now, you was. That Bohemian Rhapsody The actress destroys every red carpet she walks with blonde hair and quirky-cool make-up that turns heads. During awards season, her beauty looks go viral every time. That’s why it was so heartbreaking to see Boynton’s new red hair at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie. The light blue eye.

Red hair — particularly copper tones — has been trending for months. This was most popular with TikTokers who used at-home hair tonic to temporarily achieve the look. But Boynton took the plunge and went all out with her new red hair — and we’re glad she did. The “modern goth vibe” (according to her makeup artist, Jo Baker) is perfect for this time of year, especially with the deeper tones of makeup she wore to the red carpet.

We’re not sure who is responsible for Boynton’s new color, but we do know that Jenny Cho styled it in an elegant center part for the occasion. As always, Baker was glamorous with Chanel beauty products. In fact, she revealed the very vampy lipstick she applied to the actor. It’s Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait High-Intensity Lip Color ($55 at Chanel). Fans theorized that the exact shade is 878 and that looks right to us.

Baker kept the rest of Boynton’s makeup minimal with thick black lashes and matte face products. The result? Her hair stands out as the show stopper of the night.

The light blue eye also stars Christian Bale, Harry Melling and Gillian Anderson. The thriller follows a detective in West Point, New York in 1830 who, with the help of a young Edgar Allan Poe, investigates a series of murders. Boynton plays Lea Marquis, described by Netflix as “a dangerous temptation for young Poe – a distraction from his studies and the case.” The film hits theaters on January 6th.
