Machine Gun Kelly dedicates BBMAs 2022 set to Megan Fox and “our unborn child”

Machine Gun Kelly dedicated the Billboard Music Awards 2022 performance to “wife” Megan Fox and “our unborn child”.

The pop-punk artist and actor announced their engagement in January 2022 after more than a year together.

At the awards ceremony tonight (May 15), MGK took to the stage decorated with leaves and flowers to perform “Double Flame”. “I wrote this song for my wife,” he said as he picked up the microphone.

Midway through the song, he gets up from the perch he’s sitting on, picks up his lute, and takes the track into heavier territory. Before doing so, he added: “This one is for our unborn baby.” Watch the performance below.

The majority of the awards at the Billboard Music Awards 2022 were presented during a pre-show live stream on TikTok. Entering the ceremony, Olivia Rodrigo and Kanye West led the winners with six awards each.

The Weeknd has the most nominations at the 2022 BBMAs with 17 nominations, with Doja Cat trailing behind at 14th. She took home the first award of the main ceremony, taking home the trophy for Top R&B Artist .

Diddy opened the awards ceremony with help from Bryson Tiller, Jack Harlow and Teyana Taylor, before Silk Sonic brought a cover of Con Funk Shun’s ‘Love Train’ to Vegas. Latto also made his debut at the awards ceremony with a performance of ‘Big Energy’.

Other performances tonight will come from the likes of Burna Boy, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran and more. Morgan Wallen’s performance was quickly criticized by viewers as “voiced deaf”, he took to the stage shortly after messages about social justice and anti-racism. Travis Scott also appeared in public for the first time since last year’s Astroworld tragedy.
