Made in America 2022: Cleanup underway after festival on Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia is being cleaned up after the 2022 Made in America Festival.

It has taken some time to get everything ready for the two day event and it will take some time for everything to shut down.

“The best was of course Bad Bunny. That’s what everyone was here for,” said Raymond Then from New York.

The thousands of people who gathered for the Labor Day weekend concerts partied.

“It was very exciting, but my body hurts now because I was just jumping up and down,” Then said.

The crowd left quite a mess. Crews were out early Monday morning to begin dismantling the Made in America set.

It’s a situation where all hands are on deck as people work to remove the fences and barricades from the concert site.

“I actually commute to work out of town, and it’s been a struggle – with all the roadblocks we’ve had for a while – having to drive around and take a different route to work,” said Fairmount’s Gabrielle Bohan. “It was a little bit more disruptive than I ever imagined.”

Crews will work all day to clear the streets, but it will take time to dismantle the concert stages. Some residents said they can’t wait for the roads to reopen.

“It’s like all the people in the neighborhood don’t get to it, but they’re also the ones that get bothered by it,” said Jeffrey Shralow of Fairmount.

Sara Reagan, a Bad Bunny fan, said she heard the headliner’s music at her apartment last night.

“I was like, ‘Wow, his personal music is actually reaching my apartment,’ and I thought that was pretty cool,” Reagan said.

Now that the concert is over, she, like many others, is counting down the hours until the setup is removed.

“I bike to work, so I’ll take this bike lane like this, so I won’t have any problems as long as it’s cleaned up by tomorrow,” Reagan said.

Crews plan to be ready by 5 a.m. Tuesday before the morning commute.
