April shared how lifting a heavy object resulted in a back injury.

She ultimately suffered a herniated disc, which left her unable to “live a normal life.”

April told MailOnline: ‘I literally lifted something heavy wrong and landed like this. It was so unexpected and I couldn’t believe it could cause such a serious injury.”

“My ability to lead a normal life has been taken away from me and I am now classed as disabled.

“I have gone from being a very sociable, busy and adventurous woman who always lives my life to the fullest, to a literal hermit. I’ve been housebound for weeks now because I couldn’t walk.

“I will slowly regain the ability to walk more than a few steps without pain and to stand for short periods of time.

“Sitting is the most painful and lying down gives me the most relief, but I need to keep my muscles moving as much as possible.”

April’s disc has bulged and split into her nerves, meaning she now has pain throughout her lower back and numbness.

She continued that some days her body felt so heavy that she could barely lift her legs or right arm.

To aid in her recovery, April now wears a back brace and has begun IDD therapy.

The treatment, considered an alternative to surgery, is non-invasive and designed for people with chronic back and neck pain.

April also revealed that her family and friends stood by her.

She said: “I’m so grateful for the incredible support, but it’s been extremely unsettling not being able to do even the simplest things in life, like getting up and brushing my teeth, without being in pain.”
