Man and woman, both 22, charged with murder of two-year-old girl in Ipswich

A man and woman have been charged with the murder of a two-year-old girl in Ipswich.

The girl was found by police at a property on Sidegate Lane just after 11.45am on Friday.

An initial autopsy was carried out by the Home Office on Tuesday morning and further tests are needed, Suffolk Police said.

Formal identification procedures have not yet taken place.

Scott Jeff, 22, and Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, 22, both unknown and formerly from Bedfordshire, have been charged with murder after their July 1 arrest in Bury St Edmunds.

They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Police said a mandatory report had been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding previous police contacts with the deceased elsewhere.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Major Investigation Team
