Man dead, 2 injured in Toms River shopping center shooting Saturday morning

TOMS RIVER, NJ (WPVI) — One man is dead and two others injured after gunshots rang out at a shopping center in Toms River.

Toms River Township Police responded to the shooting at the 1700 block of Hooper Avenue just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police found three people with gunshot wounds near Anchorage Square Plaza.

A 29-year-old man was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he was later pronounced dead.

The other two male victims, ages 29 and 25, were taken to Monmouth County for their injuries.

One remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition, the other has been treated and discharged.

The police are currently not assuming any danger to the population.

This is an ongoing investigation by the Ocean County Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Division, the Ocean County Attorney’s Office High-Tech Crime Division, the Toms River Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department of Criminal Investigation.
