Man with gun spotted inside West Hollywood gay bar; no arrests were made

A man with a gun was spotted at a West Hollywood gay bar, prompting a police response just weeks after a deadly mass shooting at an LGBTQ+ club in Colorado, officials said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was alerted to the presence of a man at The Abbey Food and Bar in the early hours of Thursday morning – but the man was gone when deputies arrived. Nobody was injured.

Investigators are currently investigating.

According to ABC7, surveillance video from the bar captured the suspect at the facility with a gun visible.

The deputies did not make an arrest, although they quickly arrived at the bar.

“We have our EPT team, which is our entertainment policing team — they do constant patrol checks at all of the Sunset and Santa Monica stores, so we were here in seconds,” said Sgt. Joana Warren of the Sheriff’s Department of Los Angeles County to ABC7.

The Abbey did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
