Manchester United closer to deal with Juventus over Adrien Rabiot

The summer transfer window is here and there’s a lot of gossip about who’s going where. Transfer Talk brings you the latest in rumours, rumours, comings, goings and of course deals done!

TOP STORY: Rabiot, Man Utd close to deal

Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Juventus on a transfer that would be worth watching Adrian Rabiot get in for 17 million euros Fabrizio Romano.

Red Devils director John Murtough has now scheduled a meeting with the midfielder’s mother and agent Veronique Rabiot to agree terms on the France international.

Romano says the coming days will be crucial in negotiations if Rabiot is set to move to Old Trafford after United meet their camp, which is due to take place on Friday.

Sources had previously told ESPN that United were interested in both Rabiot and Bologna Marko Arnautovic.

But while talks about Arnautovic quickly stalled, it seems the Red Devils are now closer to bringing in Rabiot.

This comes at a time when Erik ten Hag’s midfield options – notably Scott McTominay and Fred – have been heavily criticized following United’s 2-1 defeat by Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in their Premier League season.

If Rabiot joins, he will become United’s fourth signing after Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia.

Rabiot made 45 appearances for Juventus in all competitions last season, six of which came from the bench and recorded two assists.

08.00 CET: Marcus Rashford is not for sale this summer despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain, sources have told ESPN’s Rob Dawson.

Manchester United have issued a transfer warning after it emerged Rashford’s representatives met with PSG bosses in Paris last week to discuss a potential move.

Sources told ESPN’s Julien Laurens on Thursday that the French side had signed a forward before the end of the transfer window, making Rashford one of their top targets. But United have no intention of entering into negotiations or entertaining any offers.

The 24-year-old has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford plus the option for another season, meaning United can keep him at the club until 2024. Sources have told ESPN United that he is keen on agreeing a new deal with the England forward.

Rashford and his representatives were aware of PSG’s interest, which dates back to when Mauricio Pochettino took over as manager in January 2021, according to sources. PSG have hinted they would be willing to give Rashford a substantial pay rise but there have been no contact with United over a possible fee. Sources have told ESPN that the Ligue 1 champions value Rashford at around £60m, while United’s valuation is likely to be more than double that at over £120m.

Rashford has been at the center of Erik ten Hag’s plans all summer, setting up the 2-1 defeat by Brighton in the opening weekend of the season. Ten Hag are keen to strengthen their attacking line before the transfer deadline and are keen to sign a versatile winger and a backup striker.
