Marni Took New York by Storm with James Harden, Kyle Kuzma, and Madonna

Even if Francesco Risso’s crazy creations at Marni can feel otherworldly, like Dr. Seussian’s journeys from the planet far away, his clothes have found a home in NYC. New Yorkers love clothes that have big personalities to match their own: a giant candy-striped mohair cardigan tied around the shoulders or a dramatic cut with swapping panels around the finish. Fits small shorts. A smart Uniqlo x Marni line earlier this year introduced audiences to some of Risso’s most beloved pieces of clothing. So it was obvious that Risso came to New York — Brooklyn to be exact — to present one of his most modern collections, a whirlwind of acid-stained cowboy jeans, those cropped knit tops, and a few wickedly polished velvet panné suits (including one worn by Marni artist and head Tyler Mitchell).

Just as interesting as what the New York chapter of the Marni fan club wore to the show, which was held in Dumbo’s cobblestone streets and began with the accompaniment of a live orchestra by Dev. Composed by Hynes. Check out who showed up and how they descended at the wildest fashion show of the season so far.
