‘Married… With Children’ animated series set to reunite original cast

Based on Limit lineEd O’Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and David Fausti will all reprise their roles in the lethargic Bundy family in an animated revival currently being introduced to networks and streaming players.

The new season of the 1987 sitcom – which aired its final episode on June 9, 1997 and is one of the longest running live-action sitcoms in television history – will be written by Family boy executive producer Alex Carter, who also serves as the show’s host.

Sony Pictures Television, which owns the series, has finalized contracts with the show’s original stars.

While no network or streamer has picked up the animated series yet, Fox (which aired the original), and Hulu and Peacock (reruns the show) are reportedly very interested.

Created by the late Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt, Married… Having children tells about the life of Chicago native Al Bundy (O’Neill), a woman who sells shoes; his lazy wife, Peggy (Sagal); and their children, Kelly (Applegate) and Bud (Faustino).

Several follow-up series have been discussed over the years, but they often fall apart due to the stars’ busy schedules.

In 2020, O’Neill wraps up his final episode modern family, Which one do you like? Married… Having children also ran for 11 seasons. Sagal currently stars on The Conners and plans to reprise her role as Turanga Leela in the upcoming movie exhibition about the future revival, while Applegate’s next gig will see her return in season three of Die with me later this year.

Last year, Applegate reveals that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

“It’s been a strange journey,” she tweeted. “But I have so much support that I know everyone has it. It is a difficult road. But as we all know, the road continues. Unless there’s some asshole blocking it.”
