. Last updated: July 24, 2022
It’s been confirmed that Marvel Comics’ first family, the Fantastic Four, will finally make their first foray into the MCU, so we’ve rounded up everything we know about the film so far.
One of the biggest reveals of Comic-Con 2019 was that the superhero group Fantastic Four would finally be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The rights to the group had previously been controlled by 20th Century Fox. However, following the Disney/Fox merger, Marvel Studios – which is a subsidiary of Disney – was now licensed to use these characters in the MCU.
Here’s everything we know about the Fantastic Four’s debut in Phase 6 of the MCU.

Kevin Feige confirmed at San Diego Comic Con 2022 that Fantastic Four will herald the sixth phase of the MCU and release on February 24th November 8, 2024.
MCU Fantastic Four director and crew
Spider-Man director Jon Watts was originally set to direct the Fantastic Four film. However, in April 2022, Watts resigned from the project, saying he wanted to take a break from superhero films.
Since then, the MCU has cast a wide net in the search for a new director, which includes some of the game’s biggest names like Steven Spielberg.
Cast of the MCU Fantastic Four
The cast is yet to be confirmed, but there are plenty of leaks, rumors, and speculations as to who would play Marvel’s iconic family.
Apparently, John Krasinski portrayed Universe-838 Reed Richards in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it’s not clear that Krasinski would return as Reed Richards in the core MCU (Universe-616).
Other rumored casting options for Reed Richards are Jamie Dornan (50 Shades of Grey), Penn Badgley (You) and Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).
The rumored cast (which should be taken with a pinch of salt) for the Fantastic Four: Jamie Dornan as Reed Richards, Amanda Seyfried as Sue Storm, and Joe Keery as Johnny Storm. Should Spielberg step in as producer, Ben Grimm will be cast! Again, this is all a rumour. pic.twitter.com/6yTHw8wU6s

Actresses Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout), Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place), Kristen Bell (The Good Place) have all been rumored to be possible Choices for Sue Storm.
Chris Evans, who played Captain America in Universe-616, has said he would be ready to reprise the role of Johnny Storm, which he played in 2005.
Additionally, Joe Keery (Stranger Thing), Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), and Chase Stokes (The Boys) have been suggested as options for the role.
Finally, there haven’t been too many rumors surrounding the role of Ben Grimm, but Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) is reportedly a favorite for the role.
All of these rumors should be taken with caution as none have been confirmed by anyone at Marvel or any of the actors.
MCU Fantastic Four plot

There have been few plot leaks from the Fantastic Four film, but since Marvel has moved away from known origin stories (like they did with Spider-Man), it’s highly likely that the MCU installment won’t include a detailed reveal of her transformation and powers.
Ant-Man director Peyton Reed previously revealed he had pitched an MCU Fantastic Four movie that would have been set in the 1960s, the era when the heroes were first introduced in the comics.
With rumors of regular F4 villains like Namor, Doctor Doom and Galactus being introduced to the MCU, the possibilities for a potential enemy are endless.
