No one won Tuesday night’s Mega Millions jackpot of $830 million, taking the estimated jackpot for Friday’s drawing to an estimated $1.02 billion.
DES MOINES, Iowa — No, you’re still not a multimillionaire — but now there’s more than a billion dollars at stake.
No one won Tuesday night’s Mega Millions jackpot of $830 million, bringing the estimated jackpot for Friday’s drawing to an estimated $1.02 billion, or a cash option of $602.5 million.
The winning numbers for Tuesday’s drawing were 7-29-60-63-66 with Mega Ball 15. Nine tickets matched all five numbers but not the Mega Ball for a prize of at least $1 million, however no one matched all six numbers.
Heavy traffic temporarily crashed the Mega Millions site Tuesday night as people checked to see if they had a winning ticket.
Tuesday’s $830 million jackpot was the third largest jackpot win in the game’s history and the fourth largest of any lottery game. Only two billion dollar jackpots were higher in Mega Millions.
The prize money has grown rapidly in recent weeks thanks to growing excitement and strong sales, but the odds of winning remain the same – a staggering 302.5 million. You have better odds of getting a smaller payout, such as For example, winning $1 million for five regular numbers but missing the Mega Ball. Even that is one in 12.6 million.

That hasn’t stopped the excitement surrounding this jackpot that recently wowed Raising Cane CEO Todd Graves. He said he bought 50,000 Mega Millions tickets hoping to share the jackpot with the Chicken Finger chain employees.
“Buying 50,000 lottery tickets is harder than you think!” Graves announced this on Twitter. At $2 a ticket, it costs at least $100,000.
There have only been two other billion dollar jackpots in the game’s 20-year history.
The world record for a jackpot remains at $1.586 billion, which was a Powerball prize awarded in 2016.
Last year, a Mega Millions jackpot broke the $1 billion mark for the second time. A four member lottery club from suburban Detroit won this $1.05 billion jackpot and opted for the lump sum and received $557 million after tax.
The next Mega Millions draw will be held on Friday, July 29th at 11:00pm ET. The game will be played in 45 states, plus Washington, DC and the US Virgin Islands on Tuesday and Friday nights.
