Megan Thee Stallion reveals what she said to Justin Timberlake in viral MTV VMAs moment

Megan Thee Stallion revealed the truth about what went on behind the scenes at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) during a viral interaction with Justin Timberlake.

On Tuesday, September 12, the “WAP” rapper, 28, was filmed yelling at the former *NSYNC member, 42, backstage at the event.

The footage showed Timberlake leaning in to say something to Megan, who responded animatedly by shaking her finger at the singer and shouting something that wasn’t heard in the clip.

The video quickly went viral as speculation arose that the two were arguing or that Timberlake had upset Megan.

However, a source who had observed the exchange quickly provided information diversity and several other media outlets reported that there was “no battle” between the stars.

“We actually cried and laughed because we were like, ‘In what world is Megan Thee Stallion inferior to Justin Timberlake?'” Megan said AND in a new interview.

“I’m at the back arguing with *NSYNC? That sounds crazy! I just thought it was so funny because I talk with my hands and my nails are so long so I know that looks crazy like you almost thought I was going to get you and I was going to get him. But yeah, that’s just the way I talk,” she said with a laugh.

She further explained that just before approaching her, Timberlake was distracted by an earbud she was wearing, as well as her hairstylist Kellon Deryck, who was “tugging my hair.”

“Kellon is doing my hair and… I tell Kellon I’m already nervous, just stop touching me,” the “Sweetest Pie” rapper said.

“Then Justin Timberlake comes over and says, ‘Nice to meet you’.” [and] I said, “No, no, first of all, I can’t hear you, no. ‘Take it back, I’m not going to meet Justin Timberlake like that, okay?'” she recalled. “And JC [Chasez] was back there and looked cute! I said, ‘Wait a minute, you guys need to relax. Wait until I get off the stage and then I’ll be ready for you.’”

The next day, Megan took to TikTok to personally dispel any remaining doubts that she and Timberlake weren’t getting along.

“I only talk with my hands lol. Until next time, @Justin Timberlake,” she captioned the post.

At this year’s VMAs, Megan performed her new collaborative single with Cardi B, “Bongos,” live at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, while the “SexyBack” singer reunited with his NYSYNC bandmates for the first time in a decade.
