Merhan Karimi Nasseri, who lived in the Charles de Gaulle Airport for over 18 years, has died

The Iranian who inspired Steven Spielberg’s The Terminal has died.
Officials say Merhan Karimi Nasseri, who lived at Charles de Gaulle Airport for 18 years, died yesterday after suffering a heart attack in Terminal 2F.
Nasseri lived in Terminal 1 of the airport from 1988 to 2006 due to lack of residence papers and later decided to stay voluntarily.
Apparently he’s been living at the airport again recently. For years, Nasseri slept on a red plastic bench and showered in staff facilities.
Nicknamed Lord Alfred by the staff, he became a celebrity for some passengers.
