UFC legend Michael “The Count” Bisping claims Jake Paul has been “struggling” with his pay-per-view numbers and isn’t sure a fight with Nate Diaz would get what he thinks it will.
Despite preparing to face Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 6, Jake Paul always has one eye on the future and who he might fight next time he steps into a boxing ring.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer is confident he’ll defeat Rahman at Madison Square Garden and believes it might even “open the door” for him to fight “Iron” Mike Tyson — a fight of which he also thinks he would win, and maybe easily.
That aside, there’s also a chance Jake might be confusing it with another UFC fighter as Nate Diaz is soon out of contract and interested in having a fight. However, Michael Bisping is unsure if the fight would yield the mega number that some, including Jake, might be expecting.
Michael Bisping claims Jake Paul’s PPVs are ‘fighting’
Ahead of UFC Fight Night in London on July 23, The Count posted a video on his YouTube channel where he discussed Diaz’s final fight at the Octagon, in which he will face Khamzat Chimaev.
While giving his analysis of the fight, Bisping touched on Diaz’s future, which could easily include the long-awaited fight with Jake. “Jake Paul has it in his head that he and Nate Diaz will make millions of pay-per-view purchases. I think that would probably do some big numbers but Jake Paul is struggling,” said the UFC legend, also referencing Jake’s recent footage at Conor McGregor’s PPV sales.
“McGregor beats it out the damn park every time he does a pay-per-view. They’re huge numbers. Jake Paul boasted in this video that the one with Tyron Woodley had 200,000 pay-per-view buys, which isn’t bad. But you don’t make money from 200,000 purchases when you’re in the UFC.”
As Bisping notes, the fight would likely add a nice bit of variety to both fighters, but maybe not the staggering amounts they’re thinking.
With Jake having a tricky test in the form of Rahman Jr who knows if he will keep his unbeaten streak and even fight Diaz. We just have to wait for the consequences of the August 6 battle.
