Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez proposes to longtime girlfriend at Walt Disney World

Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez earned the nickname “Splash Mountain” because of his seven-foot stature, his reach from beyond the arch and his enthusiasm for the Disney theme park ride of the same name.

So it should come as no surprise that earlier this week Lopez decided to celebrate a significant life event at one of the parks in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Lopez got engaged to longtime girlfriend Hailee Strickland Monday at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.

The proposal, which took place in front of the Tree of Life, was set 13 years to the day after the couple first met at the park.

After the Bucks won the 2021 NBA championship, each player was allowed to spend time with the Larry O’Brien trophy the following summer. Lopez took the trophy to Splash Mountain, so it only made sense that he would celebrate another momentous occasion at one of his favorite locations.

Lopez and Strickland started their night out at Tiffins Restaurant in the Park ahead of an engagement photo shoot at the site of the proposal, where Strickland wore special mouse ears.
