PENNSYLVANIA (WPVI) — A minimum wage hike is on the horizon for some Pennsylvania workers.

Starting Friday, August 5th, there will be a pay increase for servers who rely on tips.

The change increases the amount of tips an employee must receive before their hourly rate can be reduced from $7.25 to as low as $2.83.

This tip threshold goes from $30 per month to $135 per month.

According to the Wolf administration, between 93,000 and 160,000 workers earn minimum wages of less than $7.25 an hour.
