It’s a Saturday beach day in Honolulu for the Mission Viejo football players after they took care of business on Friday night with a 34-21 season-opening football win over Mililani.
Ball state commitment quarterback Kadin Semonza passed for a touchdown and ran for a touchdown to give the Diablos a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
But the Diablos struggled with their tackle, said coach Chad Johnson. And several players had flu-like symptoms earlier in the week.
“I think we’re still going to have a great team,” Johnson said. “We had some challenges throughout the week. We have a bye week, will fix bugs and prepare for Servite.”
Mission Viejo will return home on Sunday and prepare for an August 26 game against Servite.
Johnson highlighted Mikey Damato, who had an interception, and defensive end Jonathan Becerra.
Warren will be the next Southern California team to play in Hawaii and play Saturday night.
