This is the shocking moment a teenager was stabbed from behind by thugs wielding ninja swords in a tragic case of mistaken identity.
Ronan Kanda, 16, was walking back from his friend’s house after buying a Playstation controller when he was ripped off by the teenagers.
Terrifying footage showed the student casually glancing at his phone without realizing itbehind him.
Seconds later, the two hooded attackers ran after him with a ninja sword and machete in hand.
Tragically, Ronan was just meters from his home in Wolverhampton when he was stabbed twice by Prabjeet Veadhesa, 17.
He collapsed in the street and died from severe injuries sustained when he was stabbed to the heart.
Veadhesa and Sukhman Shergill, also 17, have now been sentenced to life in prison for murder.
Reporting restrictions to protect her identity were lifted today at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
The court was told on June 29 last year that Veadhesa had picked up a ninja sword set and large machete at a local post office that he had bought online.
He had developed a dislike for one of Ronan’s friends and hatched a violent plan involving the guns with three of his own friends.
All four drove to the scene of the crime in a red Vauxhall Corsa, where they spotted Ronan.
The unsuspecting teenager was walking down Mount Road around 8.30pm and was almost home when he was mugged.
Although Veadhesa delivered the fatal blows, Shergill was found to be involved in the murder of the joint venture.
Ronan’s family, who wore ‘Justice for Ronan’ t-shirts in court, paid tribute to the snooker-loving teenager who had just completed his GCSE.
His mother, Pooja, reached out directly to the killers after losing a “life full of dreams, hopes and ambitions.”
She said: “On June 29, 2022, my innocent son was murdered. I remember kissing him on the cheek and saying you looked very good and waving at him before his dad took him to the snooker club – I play that in my head every day.”
“That was the last time I saw my son alive. Nothing to that.”will fulfill my maternal wish to hold my son in my arms.
“Your evil deeds took my son’s life.”
Calling for an end to knife crime, his sister Nikita said: “We must do more to stop knife crime. You know how easy it is to get a knife. You can just go online and buy a machete.”
“I want to call the deputies. I want to call the prime minister. I want to call out to society and say that we must do more to ensure that no more innocent people are killed by knife crime.”
