‘Mortal Kombat 1’ is out this September — here’s where to pre-order

2023 was already an exciting time for fighting game fans thanks to the release of street fighter 6(opens in a new tab) and the announcement of Tekken 8(opens in a new tab). Now players can look forward to another battle title: Mortal Kombat 1(opens in a new tab). Slated for release on September 19th, the new entry in the legendary fighting game franchise will serve as a reboot of the series, complete with a new campaign set in an alternate timeline, different versions of classic characters, the addition of Kameo Fighters, and much more.

As announced at the annual conference, the game is now available for pre-order starting June 8th Summer Game Festival(opens in a new tab) event together with one new exciting trailer(opens in a new tab). Following the announcement, developer NetherRealm Studios released information on the available editions of the game and the benefits of each. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Standard Edition ($69.99): This is the base version of the game and includes access to the pre-order beta (Xbox and PlayStation only) and Shang Tsung as a playable character.

  • Premium Edition ($109.99): This version of the game includes all the bonuses of the standard edition plus six additional playable characters, five additional “Kameo Fighters”, early access to upcoming DLC ​​characters, a Jean-Claude Van Damme costume for Johnny Cage and some in-game currency, which you can use when launching the game.

  • Collector’s Edition ($249.99): Finally, the Kollector’s Edition of the game includes all the benefits of the other versions, plus even more in-game currency, an exclusive Liu Kang sculpt, and more Mortal Kombat 1 Art prints, a steel book case for the game, and an in-game color variant for Liu Kang inspired by the included sculpt. (This edition will only be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.)
