Mother of Idaho murder victim makes surprise appearance at CrimeCon panel on her son’s murder

Ethan Chapin’s mother Stacy wasn’t the only family member of a real crime victim in attendance at CrimeCon. Also in attendance were the parents and step-parents of Gabby Petito and the family of the girls killed in the horrific Delphi murders.
The mother of Idaho murder victim Ethan Chapin surprised true crime fans when she appeared at CrimeCon over the weekend.
Ethan’s mother, Stacy, was in attendance at the convention in Orlando, Florida, on Friday, where the grieving mother gave an emotional speech during a forensic expert’s lecture on the student murders at the University of Idaho.
The conference lecture by Joseph Scott Morgan, a professor at Jackson State University, was entitled “The Idaho Murders: An Expert Forensic Analysis.” Body pockets The podcast host uses his experience in forensics and available documents from the case to discuss the tragic murders that shocked the small Idaho town and much of the country last year.
But it was Stacy’s performance during the question-and-answer portion of the talk that stunned the crowd. Stacy stepped up to the microphone to speak directly to Morgan and took the opportunity to sing the praises of her murdered son.
“I’m Stacy Chapin and I’m Ethan’s mother,” she said, before being greeted with gasps and eventual applause from the crowd of more than 3,000 convention-goers, in a video shared by Fox News Digital.
Although she said she didn’t listen to the presentation because it was “too hard to watch,” she wanted to leave the crowd with a little insight into the story of the four students who broke into a home just steps away The university was killed on November 13, 2022.

“I want you all to know that these were four of the greatest kids,” Stacy told the crowd of Ethan, 20, his girlfriend Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, all tragically lost their lives that fateful night. “And all the great things you read about her [are] legitimately true.”

Through tears, Stacy also took a moment to thank Morgan for beginning his initial remarks to the four students.
“I can speak on behalf of my own son, who was an incredible human being, and we all miss her terribly,” she said. “They were great, great kids in the prime of their lives.”
Not only did Stacy appear at the talk, she also co-hosted with Becky Patty, the grandmother of 14-year-old Liberty German, who was killed in 2017 along with her best friend Abby Williams in Delphi, Indiana.
The two lacrosse players were joined by Tara German, Liberty’s aunt Sharon Love and her 22-year-old daughter Yeardley from the University of Virginia at the panel discussion, “A World Turned Upside Down: Tragedy, Triumph and the Power of Healing.” , was killed in 2010 by her boyfriend and Kerri Rawson, the daughter of convicted serial killer Dennis Rader.

Also in attendance were the parents and stepparents of Gabby Petito, who was killed by her boyfriend Brian Laundrie in their van during a cross-country drive.
During a panel discussion over the weekend, Gabby’s mother, Nichole Schmidt, became emotional as she thanked true crime fans for their efforts and enthusiasm, which she said helped find her daughter and solve her murder.
“It is thanks to all of you that we found her,” Schmidt said on Saturday.
