Mum left fuming after husband books ‘cheap seats’ for her and toddler in economy – but keeps himself in business

A WOMAN has asked if she was wrong to be angry after her husband kept his own plane seat in business – but put her and their toddler in business.
She explained to Mumsnet that she would be joining him on a long-haul work trip, but he promised to book them premium economy seats.

She wrote: “I only agreed to go if my son and I fly premium economy as it is a long way, I will be alone with the toddler while he is in business class (work is paid for his ticket) .
“He said well, no problem, had a lot of points to use. Booked the flights. Told me I booked premium.
“Six weeks later, I discover he lied and basically booked the cheapest economy tickets available (no reserved seat/upgrade option).”
She said she tried to change it with the airline but they were either fully booked or quoted her £2,000 for an upgrade.
They ended up only being able to check in at the airport because they were in the middle of the plane.
She said she “got mad” at her husband and called him selfish, but questioned if being angry was wrong.
Some people were able to see her husband’s side – one mum commented: “I kind of understand why he didn’t pay for business class for the extra two seats, it’s incredibly expensive.”
However, most people were on her side.
One person wrote: “I would be angry. What a shitty way to treat your wife and kid.”
A lot of people said to swap halfway through the flight or let the husband fly back in economy.
Someone said to “book yourself a separate holiday” so he loses the money and won’t do it again.
The woman later posted that he even booked them separate flights home – which sparked even more anger.
Other couples have shared their own similar stories.
A woman hit her boyfriend of two after he was upgraded to business class without her.
And another woman was shocked to find out her boyfriend had booked a seat in business class for an upcoming vacation while leaving her in economy class.
But one man was shocked after surprising his girlfriend with a free flight upgrade – but she wasn’t happy about it.
