A mother arrested for allegedly paying a hitman to kill her husband has broken her silence.

Former beauty queen Lindsay Shiver, 36, has been charged after the alleged assassination plot in the Bahamas was accidentally foiled by police.

Robert, an insurance executive and former Auburn University football player, is said to have discovered the affair and filed for divorce.

It is said that he then became the target of an assassination plan.

Lindsay and her alleged lover Bethel, 28, were arrested along with local Faron Newbold, who police say was hired for the job.

The three suspects are currently being held in custody in the Bahamas capital of Nassau.

Today Shiver protested her innocence when she was seen for the first time since her arrest.

She reportedly shook her head and mouthed the word “no” when journalists asked her if she was guilty MailOnline.

Wearing flip-flops, ripped blue jeans and a tight white V-neck, she was seen entering the Nassau police station ahead of her bail hearing on Wednesday.

In early July, they searched the phone number of a burglary suspect at a local bar on Great Guana Cay to gather evidence.

Police have reportedly unearthed incriminating text messages detailing the alleged hitman plot.

The accidental discovery of the texts thwarted the plan before it could be put into action, it is said.

The three suspects are currently being held in custody in the Bahamas capital of Nassau.

They appeared in court on Friday but were not required to file a plea and are due to appear in court again on October 5.

Robert and Lindsay, who have three children, owned a home in the Bahamas, a source told the Thomasville Times-Enterprise.

According to Lindsay’s Instagram account, she first met Robert during a fitness class at Auburn University in 2007.

One of her 2020 posts said: “So grateful for the fitness class 13 years ago that brought us together and for all the love, laughter and life we’ve created since then! I love you baby.”

After Richard’s career as a snapper for Auburn University, he signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons but was released before the 2009 season.

Lindsay was named Miss Houston County in 2005 and placed second in the National Peanut Festival competition that year.
