Musicians injured on stage

“I hit my head and I think I might have a concussion. But don’t worry, I’ll finish this show.”
Who knew live music could be so dangerous? It turns out that performing on stage can be very risky, especially when a musician is involved in stage productions. From pyrotechnic mishaps to overzealous fans to stunts gone awry, many artists have unfortunately been injured while performing a show. Although thankfully they’ve all recovered from their on-stage accidents, these musicians have definitely got their fans pretty worried!

1. Bebe Rexha

During a recent tour stop in New York City, Bebe Rexha was in the middle of a performance and was part of the audience threw their phone at her. The whole thing was captured on video, which showed Bebe falling to her knees and holding her head. The show stopped and she was taken to the hospital, where she ended up with three stitches.
While Bebe will be fine, the man who threw the phone was arrested for assault and later had the charges escalated to a felony for using the phone as a weapon.
2. Ava Max
Ava Max was recently assaulted at a concert in Los Angeles. In the middle of the show, a man jumped onto the stage and when he was dragged away by security personnel, he managed to hit the singer. The man was not detained and noisy TMZHe was trying to “hold” her and not harm her. He was not arrested, but Ava later shared that he injured her eye.
“He slapped me so hard he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again,” she said tweeted. “But thanks to the fans for being spectacular in LA tonight!!”

3. Dave Grohl
In 2015, Dave Grohl was in the middle of a Foo Fighters concert in Sweden when he accidentally fell off the stage. Dave knew immediately something was wrong and managed to tell the crowd that he had just broken his leg. He was taken backstage by a paramedic for treatment while the band continued playing. He learned that his ankle was dislocated and after being put back in position, he returned to the stage. He finished the rest of the set sitting up with his leg raised – and his ankle was pinned down by a paramedic.
“The Foo Fighters were playing a Queen song or something on stage and I looked down and said, ‘Okay, can I go back on stage now?’ Because it didn’t hurt. My paramedic said, “I’ve got to hold your ankle,” and I said, “Well, come on the friggin’ stage with me now.” And he did,” he said Weekly entertainment.
4. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga was performing in New Zealand when one of her dancers accidentally hit her in the head with a metal brace. She quickly left the stage to speak to a doctor who eventually told her she might have a concussion. Despite the injury, she continued with the show and performed 16 more songs.
“I want to apologize, I hit my head and I think I may have a concussion. But don’t worry, I’ll finish this show,” she said told the amount.
5. Pink
In 2010, Pink was touring in Germany when one of her stunts went awry on stage. In the end, she fell out of a harness she was supposed to carry across the crowd and was dragged into a barricade. Unfortunately, she had to abandon the show and was taken to the hospital, but wasn’t seriously injured.
“Nothing is broken, no fluid in the lungs, just serious pain. I made that barricade my ass!!!!” she tweeted. “To all my Nuremberg fans – I’m so, so, so sorry to end the show like this. I’m embarrassed and very sorry… I wasn’t buckled up properly, stunned myself off stage and fell into the barricade. I will be x-rayed. Hopefully it looked cool at least!!!”
6. Post Malone
In 2022, Post Malone appeared when he accidentally fell into a hole On stage this should serve to lower his guitar. After lying on the floor for a few minutes, he was escorted off the stage by paramedics and told fans he needed “three or four minutes” to take care of himself. Luckily he wasn’t seriously injured and was able to return to the stage.
“I want to thank you for your patience and I’m sorry there was a big hole on the stage,” he explained upon returning. “I want to thank everyone for sticking it out and I want to thank everyone, I have the best fucking fans in the world. No matter what the fuck we do, I’ll stay.” I’m trying to kick ass and move on and make this fucking tour great.

In 2015, Enrique Iglesias was giving a concert in Tijuana, Mexico when there was a drone incident. During the show, he grabbed the drone – a stunt he’d done many times before – but unfortunately grabbed the wrong part of the device. The drone’s propellers cut his fingers and broke his hand. He went backstage to seek medical attention and, against the doctor’s recommendation, returned to end the show with a t-shirt around his hand. Unfortunately, he later had to undergo reconstructive surgery and suffered nerve damage in one of his fingers.
“To be honest with all the adrenaline I didn’t feel much of it. I was really surprised at how much blood I lost,” he later said called. “I felt a bit of shame and embarrassment in front of my fans, especially with the crowd that was up front. Every time I moved my hand, you could see blood all over it. And in that moment I didn’t see it.” I realized how bad it was because I couldn’t feel any pain anymore. I was in pain after the operation.”
8.Lil Durk
During an appearance at the Lollapalooza in 2022, Lil Durk was injured in a horrific accident that caused pyrotechnic effects to explode in his face. Despite the dire situation, the rapper continued with the show – but later decided to take a break from touring to recover from the injury. On Instagram, he gave fans an update by sharing a photo of himself wearing a large eye patch and a mask.
“Because of the incident that happened onstage at the Lollapalooza in Chicago, I’m taking a break and focusing on my health,” he said wrote. “I finished my performance for my fans yesterday. I thank you all.”
He has since healed and been touring again.
9. Big Boi
In 2013, Outkast’s Big Boi was performing at Summer Camp Fest in Illinois when he crashed and landed jumping onto the stage. In the end he suffered a torn patella in his left knee and required surgery. While recovering, he had to postpone many of his tour dates by several months.
“God bless Atlanta. Sports medicine for successful knee surgery fixed my torn patella #Jesus #backoutcheain6weeks,” he said wrote on Instagram.
10. Michael Clifford
5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford was injured in a pyrotechnics accident during a show in London. During his performance, he got too close to the pyrotechnics, causing his hair and face to catch fire. He quickly left the stage and was treated for burns. Luckily he made a full recovery.
“What the hell is going on. Sorry I couldn’t finish the encore, but at least I look like two faces. Thanks for all your worries,” Michael wrote back then on Twitter.
11. Kelsea Ballerini
Although she’s fine, Kelsea Ballerini also had a scare during a recent show in Boise, Idaho. Video from the event showed something flying towards her eye, surprising the singer. She left the stage but came back and urged the audience to stop throwing objects.
The next day, she took to social media to say she was fine, but “someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eye and it scared me more than it hurt.”
“We all have triggers and layers of fears that run much deeper than what is being shown and so I walked off stage to calm down and make sure I, the band, the crew and the audience all got together.” felt safe to continue,” she added. “That’s all I ever want for the shows to feel like a safe place for all of us. Love you guys and appreciate all the concern, let’s make the last two shoes of the HeartFirst Tour the best ever.”
