My mom accused me of ‘trying to outshine the bride’ with my busty wedding guest dress, I think it’s fine

MANY people know that the number one rule in wedding attire is not to wear a white dress to the ceremony.

A woman asked if her wedding dress was too much despite not wearing white, after her mother claimed so.

The Redditor u/Much_Grocery_3323 have asked others for advice on this subject.

She explained that her friend wanted to wear a low-cut black dress with leg slits to the event but was worried about disturbing the bride.

“Mom says it’s ‘too formal’ and I’m trying to outshine the bride,” she contextualized.

The woman, on the other hand, found the outfit perfectly appropriate: “I (20f) think I dress as requested.”

She shared the dress code on the wedding invitation, which asked guests to show up in formal attire: “Dress to impress!” it said.

People used the comments to share their thoughts on the outfit.

Many felt it was a good choice and perfectly acceptable for the event.

“Wonderful dress! It’s both formal and you (well they) are dressed to impress,” said one commenter.

Others couldn’t help but agree: “It’s plain black. You definitely won’t overshadow the bride. You’re fine,” said another.

Others thought the dress was fine overall, but noted one issue: “Beautiful and definitely dress code compliant,” said one viewer.

“The only thing is that the fit is a bit different. To me it looks like a size up would be perfect.”

Others agreed: “It’s great, but it doesn’t fit very well. I would buy it a size up and then have it altered,” agreed another.
