Mystery as mum wakes up to strings of thread dotted over her house – and people are horrified by the suspected culprit

A mother has left social media users completely horrified after discovering what was responsible for the mysterious threads strewn all over her property.
The Queensland, Australia mum took to Facebook after waking up to find random strands of thread appearing in her home, including the family bedroom.
Baffled by what was going on, the Australian sought answers and possible explanations for the popular mothers who clean group on the platform.
“These threads keep appearing randomly overnight. I cleaned my whole kitchen last night and woke up with this thought,” she explained the postattach a snapshot of the chaos.
As interest grew on social media, the Australian began opening up about the situation. First, she said she would put baby cameras in the kitchen to catch the culprit.
Unfortunately, the trick seems to have been unsuccessful, as the camera didn’t discover anything – but the mother found another piece in the hallway.
Thankfully, by the third update, everyone on Facebook found out what actually happened — and people were embarrassed.
“I woke up at 4 a.m. to find a cool possum in my kitchen,” the mother said.
“Please explain why I woke up at 4am to a POSSUM in my kitchen?!”
“I don’t know if that’s what’s left of the string but boy oh boy did I almost have a heart attack.”
It wasn’t just the Aussie parent who was completely horrified – hundreds of social media fans flocked to the comments, where many others suggested tips.
One advised: “Sprinkle it with flour before bed and check for footprints in the morning.”

Meanwhile, someone else said, “So you don’t have a rug, no rugs that color or that yarn?”
”Maybe that rats “Steal the neighbor’s carpet/yarn and stay at your place.”
Another joked, “I think someone is fooling you.”
A fourth shared his story: “Probably a rat or mouse too!”
“When we were renovating our kitchen, the contractor found a bright pink rat’s nest. They were starting to take scraps of our garbage bags because we never realized it was a well-made nest!”
