Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan Trip – WSJ

Nancy Pelosi may visit Taiwan next month in what would be the first trip by a speaker of the House of Representatives to the island democracy in 25 years. It would be an important show of US support, and perhaps it would recognize that Taiwan needs better defenses.

The Financial Times broke the news of Ms Pelosi’s trip, which her office has not confirmed but which still angers China. Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said Tuesday a visit would have “severe negative implications for the political basis of China-US relations.” He warned that “China will take strong and decisive measures to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan Trip – WSJ
