Nashville hotels near capacity with return of CMA Fest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville’s economy is looking to recover next week with the return of country music’s biggest party. The CMA Music Festival begins next Thursday after two years of cancellation due to the pandemic. The return of the festival means big business for the city.

“I think there’s really some pent-up demand for people to come back and I think the excitement is incredible,” Leesa LeClaire, president and CEO of the Greater Nashville Hospitality Industry, told News 2.

Tens of thousands of country fans are expected to flock to downtown Nashville to give our economy a much-needed boost.

“The bars, the restaurants, the boutiques, the hats, the museums. I think there is a wide variety of activities that people can do and see while they are here. I think the museums will benefit, the parks. I think people will benefit from what we offer and we have a lot to offer,” said LeClaire.

The 37,200 hotel rooms in Davidson County are almost full, she says.

“What’s really exciting and interesting about this is that we have a much larger range of hotel rooms. As we know, many more hotels have opened since 2020 and we seem to be absorbing those that fill the demand, even the new supply of hotels, so it’s very exciting,” she explained.

The general manager of the Sheraton Grand Nashville Downtown says they’re already feeling the excitement.

“The excitement is in the air, the team is ready for it. They’re ready to bring all of these amazing people who are here to hear the amazing music and see what Nashville is all about,” said Kris Carlson.

All 482 rooms at the Sheraton Grand are already booked.

“They’re all taken, every single one of them, so they’re ready, and we prep and prep them so that when all of our guests come, they’ll be perfect,” Carlson told News 2.

CMA Fest is back after selling out in 2019. Carlson says they plan to activate their space so tourists can feel the excitement of the festival inside and out.

“We’ve been anticipating this for two years and we’re going to make sure we show it, we’ve waited two years for this and we’re going to have a two-year party,” smiled Carlson.
