GUY Pearce had paid tribute to his ‘beautiful’ mum after she passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
The Australian actor, 55, announced last night that his mother Anne Cocking had died.
Guy shared a series of pictures of himself, his sister Tracy and their “wild and fun” role model, and opened up about his heartbreak.
The Neighbors star wrote, “Today I lost my beautiful mother.”
“‘I put the spoon down,’ as she would say. What a sharp, wild and funny woman Anne was until she was struck by Alzheimer’s in 2010.”
“It was a long and winding road. A fitting song for your farewell, Mama. Tracy and I will miss you very much. We will always love you XX.”
Fans and fellow stars expressed their support and condolences under the post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Anne was an English teacher who was widowed in 1975 after her husband Stuart Pearce, an RAF test pilot, died in a plane crash.
She was a staunch supporter of her son’s acting career, which propelled him to stardom on the hit Australian soap opera Neighbors.
He played Mike Young before leaving the role in 1989 and embarking on a successful career in Hollywood.
