Netflix action thriller Man of Fire follows the success of The Night Agent

The night agent debuted with a surefire bang on Netflix in March 2023, cementing the power of action thriller series on Netflix. After the debut of the successful political drama, viewers clearly want more. While a slew of action thriller series will return to Netflix later this year and next, the streamer has also ordered an adaptation of man on fire.

man on fire, previously adapted into the hit 2004 film starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning, is a series of five thriller novels by the late British author AJ Quinnell. The Netflix series will adapt the first two books in the series – man on fire And The perfect kill — and will count author Kyle Killen as showrunner. Killen has previously worked on titles such as street of fear And gloriole.

Accordingly the hollywood reporter, Netflix has been working quietly and diligently on the development of man on fire series when streamer and rights holder New Regency was looking for a writer and showrunner to lead the project. With his background, Killen will expertly help keep Netflix on a path away from character-driven thrillers like The night agent And The Lincoln Attorney.

Man on Fire sounds like The Night Agent meets The Lincoln Lawyer

Over the past year, Netflix has achieved great success with original series that combine action, adventure, mystery, and entertaining characters. The Lincoln Attorney adapts the novels in Michael Connelly’s Mickey Haller series while The night agent adapted from the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk. There’s something to be said for digestible airport readings making their way to the small screen.

While The Lincoln Attorney has already been renewed for a second season (as well as other thriller series the recruit), The night agent appears to be on the way to a Season 2 renewal, and that’s just days after its release. The series shot to the top of the top 10, once again proving the desire and staying power of fast-paced action thriller series on Netflix.

In the eight-part first season of man on fire, Ex-mercenary John Creasy (to be cast) embarks on a mission to avenge his friend while also being tasked with protecting his friend’s daughter. With the books supporting the story, the protagonist fighting for what is right, and the added layer of protecting someone in danger, the show sounds like the perfect tonal mix The night agent And The Lincoln Attorney. It fits right into the Netflix catalog of action thriller series.
