The smooth, dystopian Shine by Kronoid Labs “mthe most advanced AI combat warrior” evokes a sense of fear when the very humanlooking creation is built. Even the fully wired brain that looks like one of those steel wool sponges gave me heartache. Designing the teaser, which was like an advertisement for the latest technology upgrade, made me feel like it was more of an “upgrade you” situation. We’re definitely intrigued by this thriller premise and can’t wait to see how the researcher manages to put her mother in the body of what is possibly the world’s most dangerous killer. What could possibly go wrong?

This fEels like a new imaginative journey from Yeon, although we’re still hoping for another Busan Movie. In the meantime, you can also check out the filmmaker’s latest Netflix project infernal, a near future supernatural series based on his webtoon streaming now. You can watch Boy on Netflix from January 23, 2023.
