Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continues to hit theaters globally, becoming the highest-grossing film of the year to date with over $800 million in box office receipts. The Multiverse sequel has made its mark with dozens of characters from Marvel lore, including everyone from the Illuminati to the MCU’s first Minotaur in Rintrah.
During the tour promotion for Doctor Strange 2, Rintrah found herself becoming an important part of the sequel’s supporting cast alongside her fellow witches in Stephen Strange and Wong. He’s been seen in a few quick shots from the early trailers, he’s got his own solo poster – wow, Entertainment Earth even gave him the honor of being immortalized as a Funko Pop! figurine!
When the final cut of the film came out on May 6, the giant green Minotaur appeared in only a few scenes and was removed from battle and cleaned up at the Kamar Taj. However, a recent behind-the-scenes video provides evidence that Rintrah was once fit for a bigger supporting role in this explosive and expansive sequel.
More Rintrah in Doctor Strange 2?
Twitter users @DrStrangeUpdate shared a set of videos from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness includes more shots for Rintrah, played by Adam Hugill in the film.
The video shows a CGI actor climbing the slopes of Mount Wundagore with some of the other witches of the Kamar Taj. That actor, capable of performing motion shots for Rintrah, was the sole survivor of Wanda’s Chaos Magic explosion.
This scene can happen when Wong is fighting against Wanda and her new demonic minions, or when Doctor Strange dreams of stepping into his own corpse to stop Wanda from taking on America Chavez’s powers.

Is Rintrah’s role in Doctor Strange 2 bigger?
Rintrah is one of Marvel Comics’ most powerful magic users and is considering his place in the universe. Doctor Strange 2on the marketing tour, it’s a bit of a surprise that he didn’t get to be more involved in the movie. However, with six weeks of reboots and countless different versions of the story Marvel has gone through, the fan-favorite character may have gotten lost in the mix.
Chief screenwriter Michael Waldron recently discussed early ideas for other characters like Nightmare to appear in a sequel, possibly a version of the plot that includes more of Rintrah. It’s unclear when this scene was originally filmed, but with the character being shown on Mount Wundagore, it’s clear his role could be as big as Wong’s while Strange uses the undead to fight Wanda.
Whatever happens behind the scenes, Rintrah ends up with only a few lines and a few minutes onscreen, mostly being tortured by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff at Kamar-Taj. There’s no indication as to whether or not Marvel Studios will use the character, but given the extent of the MCU’s continued expansion, anything is certainly possible.
